The awesome alternative rock group Say Anything has embarked on a tour, and one of their destinations is none other than the Irving Plaza in NYC! Creating stellar indie rock vibes while weaning off pieces of hardcore, bombastic arena rock and post-punk, Say Anything will give a performance that is not to be missed! So join us and the Cali rockers on Thursday, June 20th, and Friday, June 21st. Tickets to these great shows can be found here (6/20) and here (6/21).

On June 11th of 1960, Drummer Tommy Moore left The Beatles to return to his day job, which consisted of driving a forklift at Gaston bottle works. What an interesting decision… Also on this day in 1988, 1 billion people from over 40 different countries tuned in to watch Nelson Mandellas 70th birthday tribute featuring Whitney Houston, Phil Collins, and Stevie Wonder, among others. Could you imagine 1 billion people watching your birthday celebration?! More recently, in 2000, Aaliyah had the first “airplay-only” song to reach No. 1 on the US Singles chart with ‘Try Again’.

On Wednesday June 12th and Thursday June 13th, the Gramercy Theatre is thrilled to host Californian punk rockers Face to Face. The band is embarking on a tour for their 8th studio album, displaying a new and classic punk sound compared to the likes of Social Distortion and the Clash. This Day in Music History
May 7 is a special day in music history for classic rock. On this day in 1972, The Rolling Stones released ‘Exile on Main Street’ - a personal favorite of the Music Geeks crew. On May 7 in 1977, the legendary song ‘Hotel California’ by The Eagles went to No. 1 on the U.S. singles chart. And on this day in 1978, Bob Dylan sold 90,000 tickets in 8 hours for his concerts in London! Finally, a very special Happy Birthday to Bill Kreutzmann from the Grateful Dead!

America’s Most Wanted Festival 2013 Starring Lil Wayne
Grammy Awarding winning hip hop icon, label owner and TRUKFIT apparel brand founder Lil Wayne will bring his high voltage, eye-popping live show to Nikon at Jones Beach Theater on Friday, July 19th and at PNC Bank Arts Center on July 24th with the triumphant return of his America’s Most Wanted Music Festival. The multi-platinum recording artist, who recently broke Elvis’s record for most entries on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with an impressive 109 entries, will tour in support of his forthcoming tenth studio album, I Am Not A Human Being 2 (Cash Money Records) which dropped on March 26th.
This Day in Music History
April 30 is a busy day in music history. On this day in 1983, Michael Jackson started a three week run at Number 1 on the U.S. singles chart with “Beat It,” in 1977 Led Zeppelin broke a world attendance record by playing to over 76,000 people in Michigan, and in 1966 The Young Rascals went to Number 1 on the charts with the classic “Good Lovin’.” Oh, and Happy Birthday to Willie Nelson!

Death To All:
Celebrating Chuck Schuldiner in Aid of Sweet Relief
On April 24, come to Irving Plaza powered by Klipsch Audio to celebrate the life and music of Chuck Schuldiner while benefiting the charity Sweet Relief. Schuldiner, the founder of influential metal band Death, is often referred to as “The Father of Death Metal.” With Schuldiner as the singer, songwriter, and guitarist, Death went on to sell over 2 million albums worldwide, making them the top-selling death metal band of all time. Unfortunately, Schuldiner passed away from brain cancer in 2001, and Death ceased to exist as a band. Now, the remaining members have gotten together to honor Schuldiner’s memory and raise money for Sweet Relief, which is a non-profit that helps musicians struggling with their finances while facing medical issues.
